Koi-Koi (Japanese: こいこい) is a popular card game in Japan that is played with Hanafuda cards. It is one of the variations of Hanafuda, a traditional Japanese playing card game typically enjoyed by two players.

The main objective of Koi-Koi is to create specific card combinations faster than your opponent. In Japanese, the phrase "koi-koi" translates to "come on" and is used when a player wishes to continue the current round.

In this game, players aim to establish unique card combinations known as "yaku" using the cards they collect in a point pile. Cards are acquired by matching those in hand or drawn from the draw pile with those on the table. After creating a yaku, players can choose to stop and accumulate points or opt to continue (referred to as "koi-koi," hence the game's title) to form more yaku for additional points. While individual cards receive point values, these values do not affect the overall score but aid players in assessing their potential for creating yaku.
